The Science of Sleep
(France/Italy, 2006, 103 minutes)
An unorthodox graphic artist with an unusual sleep disorder, stuck in a job he doesn’t like, becomes infatuated with the new next door neighbour, who is just as unorthodox as he is. Charming but rather whimsical romantic comedy whose striking visuals and endearing performances go a long way towards redressing a fanciful, unfinished script.
Gaumont presents a Partizan Films production, in co-production with Gaumont, France 3 Cinéma and Mikado Film, with the participation of Canal Plus and TPS Star. Starring Gael García Bernal, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alain Chabat, Miou-Miou; with the participation of Pierre Vaneck. Directed and written by Michel Gondry; produced by Georges Burmann, Michel Gondry, Frédéric Junqua; music by Jean-Michel Bernard; director of photography (Eclair), Jean-Louis Bompoint; art directors, Pierre Pell and Stéphane Rozenbaum; costume designer, Florence Fontaine; film editor, Juliette Welfling.
