At the end of WWII, a Japanese soldier returns home having lost all four limbs and his hearing; his wife, finding herself forced to take care of him, begins to chafe at her role and starts using the situation to her profit. Powerful and highly disturbing anti-war drama that puts a feminist spin on Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun; its surreal tone and relentless violence, whether graphic or emotional, make it a tough one to stomach, not just for squeamish viewers.
