The Last King of Scotland

(Great Britain/Germany, 2006, 121 minutes)

In the early 1970s, a newly-graduated Scottish doctor accepts to become personal physician to the newly-installed president of Uganda, Idi Amin, and slowly discovers the real man behind the charming facade. An acclaimed novel that builds its fictional spin out of true-life events and characters becomes a rivetingly handled drama whose stylish visuals and excellent cast raise it above televisual docudrama territory.
