Charlie Wilson's War

(USA/Germany, 2007, 101 minutes)

In the early 1980s, an American congressman becomes smitten with the cause of the Afghan resistance to the Soviets, and works his way around Washington until it becomes the largest CIA covert operation ever. A true story stranger than any fiction becomes a lively, rambunctious political comedy that milks the comedy angle so well that the political side becomes almost an afterthought.
