In 1961 Israel, a former magician who survived the Holocaust but carries deep scars that have confined him to an experimental asylum bonds with a feral boy who thinks he is a dog. Surrealist drama that spins a fascinatingly absurdist web from its premise, making for often uncomfortable viewing despite an extraordinary, and under-recognised, leading performance.
